Estimates and Invoices

I can provide estimates most accurately after gathering the following information from a potential client:

  1. Subject Matter
  2. References Available
  3. Number of Illustrations
  4. Target Audience
  5. Target Medium
  6. Format
  7. Usage Rights
  8. Deadline
  9. Budget Range

Providing a budget range is helpful when working with an artist, because art is subjective. The possible ways to convey a single concept are limitless, as subject matter can be hand-drawn for a rough storyboard or rendered photo realistic for the cover of a magazine. Budgets are not limitless, and it is important for artists and clients to discuss the time and cost restraints of a project up front. The budget is always the client’s decision, but it is the artist’s responsibility to outline what can be delivered within it. Both parties can then decide whether or not they would like to pursue a particular project.
